MOUNT RAINIER NATIONAL PARK

Considered the State's Crowning Glory, Mount Rainier National Park is located about 100 miles southeast of Seattle. The park is a 235,612-acre forested reserve with the 14,414-foot Mount Rainier as its focal point. Take a hike on the Skyline Trail, a 5-mile loop that begins near the Paradise Inn and wanders through mountain meadows and hillsides filled with wildflowers, marmots and a beautiful, year-round snowfield. All of this natural wonder is within reach of your KOA Seattle camping spot.

PROFESSIONAL SPORTS

Sports are big here. There’s Safeco Field, home of the Mariners, with many star players. Across the street sits Century Link Field, home of the Seahawks; and in addition, Key Arena is the headquarters for the WNBA professional women's basketball team, the Seattle Storm. Other sports to watch: University of Washington teams, the Seattle Thunderbirds hockey team at ShoWare Center, and your favorite regional baseball and soccer tournaments.

EMERALD DOWNS

Just watch, or wager a bet. Emerald Downs hosts live Thoroughbred racing every Thursday through Sunday, April - September. Children 17 and under are free, and many family activities are offered for the whole family to enjoy!

POP A CORK

What do Washington and France have in common? Both are located on the same latitude, which may explain why the Wine Spectator and other connoisseurs consider Washington wines among the best.

The oldest winery in the Pacific Northwest is Chateau Ste. Michelle, founded in 1934. Today, it is also the largest winery in the Pacific Northwest and has received more top awards for its outstanding Cabernets, Merlots, Chardonnays, and late harvest wines than any other winery in the region.

The Columbia Winery is Washington’s first premium winery. It was founded in 1962 by 10 friends who first experimented by making wines in the garage of Dr. Lloyd Woodburne, Columbia’s first winemaker. Today, Columbia Winery has a reputation for producing award-winning Merlots and Cabernet Sauvignons and distinctive Chardonnays, as well as exceptional Riesling.
